Organized Chaos

Coming from Windows/desktop application programming, I can see how someone can get overwhelmed by the Drupal process, but even at this early stage I can appreciate the power and flexibility behind the system. I think the trick really is figuring out where everything is, and learning how to navigate the interface, or lack thereof. I think the hardest part for me is finding where a function gets declared, implemented and used. The compile and run steps have been replaced by save and submit, which actually takes no time getting used to and what Drupal lacks in a rigid structure, it makes up for with creative potential, meaning, I can see it doing some crazy things once properly harnessed. My first project is a multi lingual site... i think that speaks for itself. May the force be with you

yea I am just getting into drupal and see many benefits already and cant wait to learn it all and start doing some really crazy stuff!

There are pros and cons for all the top CMS's. Out of the top 3, Joomla, Drupal and WordPress, Drupal is by far the best for more demanding sites, although it does come with added complexity of use.

I love drupag, it makes my life so much better! That multi lingual sit must have taken some serious work.

I tried using Drupal for a new site recently, liked it but then had problems logging into the admin section. Yes I was using the correct login info-I just could not find a way to go to the admin section. Eventually I decided to go with WP as usual.

Ha. Barack Obama has adopted Drupal for the whitehouse website, now there's an endorsement!

I havent used drupal and used only joomla as well, but I have heard so much about drupal that its in my to-do list now, and will soon try it myself, hope its as great as talked about.

Drupal is pretty difficoult for me.. Just got the hang of wordpress lol. It is really nice though, some of the things you can do with it are truely awesome. I'm going to spend some time learning it, looks like it'll be worth it in the end.

I picked joomla - I tested both drupal and joomla, I liked joomla better and have used it for some time now. But I am today much smarter in these things and soon try to test out drupal again, lets see what I will choose now :)

I prefer Drupal over Joomla. I tried both but Joomla seems to be too commercialized. What I mean is that many of the cool modules cost like full fledged programs. Drupal seems the runner up on the hole but still it has grown on me. A lot of functions seem more streamlined but then again, maybe it feels that way cause I have used it for some time now. :)

He has adopted Drupal for the whitehouse website.

I've never used Drupal before but I've heard that is really powerful. I'm a big fan of Ruby on Rails myself -- how does Drupal relate // what are the pros and cons when comparing the two?

I personally find Drupal too difficult to use, it just doesn't make sense. I use Wordpress a lot and although it can't do some things that Drupal and Joola do, it does have a great community which produce outstanding plugins to use, which make it the best by far I think.

Very good, thanks
