Adam has lived his life immersed in technology. He started out programming a Commodore VIC-20 more than 30 years ago, and never looked back. After stints coding for an Air Force contractor, an ISP, and AT&T, he and a partner started a cellular location company, which took him and his family around the world a number of times -- even living in South Africa for a year. More recently Adam has been responsible for architecting and building numerous enterprise websites and apps.
Adam is married to his high-school sweetheart, has seven children and two dogs, and plays bass and guitar in a number of country music bands. He speaks fluent German and some Spanish, and proudly calls rural West Texas “home.” He is active in his community, church, and children’s school, cooks pancakes for his children on Saturday mornings, loves reading about scientific accomplishments in quantum physics and cosmology, enjoys pondering metaphysics, and recently finished up a Master’s degree in Theology.

As a Senior Developer, Afraaz has been a part of the Appnovation team since 2007 He is an expert in Drupal, while still showing his skills with Java, C, C++, Perl, SproutCore, and MongoDB.
Afraaz has a diploma from BCIT in Computer Systems with a specialization in technical programming. Afraaz has learned to adapt to any situation in large part due to his 6 years of experience in Drupal and systems administration and his strong educational background. Afraaz is excited to apply and grow his knowledge of large application development within the open-source community to provide scalable solutions for customers.
Alaa is a seasoned architect within the integration domain, with over 20 years experience in enterprise applications software development. Backed by a MSc. Degree in Computer Control Systems, Alaa began his career providing expert software development services in various industries. His focus is on building and motivating talented teams to surpass objectives within high-pressure, deadline-driven environments to ensure that projects are successful. Alaa's unique experience and involvement in all phases of SDLC and his close connections with sales and client management qualify him to define systems architecture and play a leadership role at Appnovation as a Solutions Architect.

Alex studied Modern Languages at Exeter University. This included a year of working and learning abroad in Valladolid, Spain as well as a summer in Montpellier and another summer in Paris. She graduated with a BA in Modern Languages and a Masters Degree in Applied Translation. After graduating she began her career working for Reuters as a Linguist/Market Analyst which led her into the world of Business Analysis. After 7 years with Reuters/Thomson-Reuters she worked as a BA for a Hedge Fund in the Business Analytics department. This role was multi-faceted covering an Operations Lead and Team Leader role in addition to BA work within Production operations. After 3 years she decided to branch out into a different industry and joined Appnovation in May 2016.

Allyson graduated with a degree in Political Science from UBC and then completed a second degree in Computer Science once she realized that lawyers have to wear those ugly robes. Prior to joining Appnovation, she worked for a smart meter company for 3.5 years, with time spent on both manual testing and Python automation. She believes that QA is like a puzzle - there is always a bug somewhere, you just have to find it!
Outside of work, she enjoys reading, iced coffee, riding her bike at night and petting all the neighbourhood cats.

Being a part of the marketing team at Appnovation, Angus is responsible for creating graphic content and managing the corporate website. Born and raised in Vancouver, Angus graduated from the Industrial Design program at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Prior to his degree, Angus attended Capilano University's Studio Art Program studying printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, painting and drawing. While there, he also co-captained the men's varsity volleyball team. The team finished 1st at BCCAA Provincial Championships twice, 3rd place at the Canadian Jr. Nationals, and 2nd place finish at the CCAA National Championships twice.

Arnold is the CEO and Founder of Appnovation Technologies. Although he is a finance graduate from the UBC Sauder School of Business, he has always been an enthusiast in the realm of information technology. In 2007, Arnold saw the emergence of open source technologies in enterprises and governments and as a result founded Appnovation with the goal of helping organizations deploy open source solutions.
Arnold is the winner of the Vancouver Top 40 under 40 Award and the BDC Young Entrepreneurs Award. He is also a board member of the Vancouver Enterprise Forum.

Charles has more than 10 years of experience in software industry. He started his career in a small startup as a java developer in India back in 2003. He has worked on various technologies including java, j2ee and Microsoft technologies throughout his career. After graduating from Pune University in India, Charles completed one of the most prestigious and challenging course called Post Graduate Diploma in Advance Computing from Pune University (C-DAC) Department. Moreover, he possesses an MBA-IT Management degree from Western Governors University Utah. Prior to joining Appnovation, she lived in New York, worked in the non-profit sector for 6+ years, and travelled extensively. She is actively involved in sourcing, HR reporting and data analytics, full-cycle recruitment for junior and co-op roles, design and facilitation of student learning and education opportunities (practicum, internships, you name it!), as well as managing our company Instagram (@appnovation).
She's starting to dip her toes into talent branding given the enormous impact it has how your company is perceived, from the broadest end of the talent funnel — pre-candidate, to existing employees. Born and raised in Lima-Peru, Cristina graduated from the University of Lima in Industrial engineering in 2010. Living on the beautiful Gower Peninsular near Swansea, Ed has been developing websites using PHP for over 15 years including developing a CMS used exclusively in the student sector nationwide. He discovered Drupal 7 years ago and has made it his primary platform ever since. Ed has worked closely with clients to determine website specifications, build web systems to promote and manage businesses, train clients and offer direct support to clients and users.
When unplugged from his computer Ed spends the majority of his time with his partner and 2 children exploring the wilds of the Gower or playing on the beach.

Global Governance Manager, Vendor and Contract Management
Ellaine joined Appnovation in 2014 as an Operations Coordinator, contributing to all aspects of Operations from managing office budgets to vendor relations and building the global delivery team. Her interest in operations management started and flourished during her time at the Beedie School of Business at SFU, where she graduated with concentrations in Operations Management and Management Information Systems.

Erica joined Appnovation in 2016 as Senior Resourcing Manager, and is responsible for determining the right resource with the best skill set is allocated to a project to ensure project success and client satisfaction. Prior to joining Appnovation, Erica worked for Elastic Path Software, Amazon and Starbucks, bringing over 7 years of resourcing experience!
Born and raised in New Brunswick, Erica moved to Vancouver in 2007. In her spare time, she enjoys entering running races, brunching with friends and travelling whenever she can.

While he specializes in responsive design and mobile, Érico’s other projects include user experience design, information architecture and business analysis. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Érico moved to Canada in 2007 to pursue a career in web development and design.

Gary graduated with a Bachelors of Science from SFU while almost completing a Minor in SIAT. He proclaims to be a person with many talents, but masters of none, and shows it through his experience as a Quality Assurance tester for Electronic Arts, his experience in User Experience design, and of course, his experience as a developer. Gary's reason of becoming a Frontend Developer is to work towards his goal of developing web sites and web applications that will be an inspiration and memorable to the audience. Fun fact? Gary can "Meow" just like Spongebob's pet snail.
Graham is an enthusiastic Project Manager who enjoys the opportunity to work with exciting clients and help them utilize open technologies in order to achieve their business goals. Having graduated from SFU's Beedie School of Business with concentrations in Finance and Operations Management, he found his fit at Appnovation due to its excellent culture and growth opportunities. After graduating from BCIT’s Software Systems Design High-Tech program in 2002, he began his journey into web design and has never looked back. After 12 years in New York, Iain moved to Vancouver in early 2011 and joined the Appnovation team as the Director of Sales. He quickly delivered 3x year-over-year growth and built a global sales team, promoting him to Senior VP of Global Sales and a member of the Appnovation Executive Team.
Iain is a proven sales executive and brings over 18 years of experience in sales, business development and professional services experience. His experience has included companies such as MediaServ, Extreme Logic, and Hewlett-Packard Company. Iain holds an Honour's Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Waterloo.
Ian joined Appnovation in January of 2014 as a co-op. Upon graduating from UBC’s Computer Engineering program, he joined Appnovation as a full-time Systems Administrator. Isabel started with Appnovation in the summer of 2009. Originally hired on as a Project Manager, her knowledge of the company's service line and projects translated easily into the Marketing sphere. Isabel has worked with international engineering and security companies and specializes in digital strategy and events. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria. Outside of the office you can find her checking out shows at local venues, playing sports or trying to get through her endlessly backlogged reading list.
Jacek spent 12 years working on large and complex integration systems for telecommunication, marketing, and automotive industries. During that time, he learned that service flow or data model diagram is worth more than 10 pages of detail design description in MS Word, but at the same time, diagrams are worth less than clean code and good unit test coverage. Three years ago he started developing with Mule ESB and since then he believes that Mule is the best platform for software system integration.

As the Sr.Director of Global Business Development at Appnovation, James helps to drive the technical vision of the company. He also manages Appnovation’s technology and solution partner relationships and new business development initiatives. In early 2009 James was the first member of the Appnovation sales and marketing team and played a pivotal role in driving the growth of the company to where it is today. James brings over 10 years of experience in new media and the enterprise web and mobile development space to the Appnovation team.
Prior to joining Appnovation, James was Director of Business Development for VideoClix Technologies where he helped negotiate many partnerships with Tier 1 Content providers and distribution platforms as well helping to drive product vision, financing and to scale the business.
James holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations from the University of British Columbia.
James is a seasoned Business Analyst and digital professional with 12+ years' experience working on high-traffic websites and large projects for a wide range of clients including Pfizer, Samsung, Cisco Systems, Teach for All, Inc, Sutter Health, 1-800-Got-Junk (O2E Brands), and Vancouver Food Bank Society. Jeff has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry in roles ranging from developer to team leader. Jeff began his development career maintaining an expert system in C for the trucking industry. Subsequently, he wrote a Java applet using the Swing graphical toolkit which was deployed to several school systems throughout Oklahoma.
Jeff has also worked on automating a phone billing system with Lisp, machine learning with Clojure, numerous web projects in Java, and most recently has worked with Mule and Groovy. For fun, Jeff likes to study various programming languages and paradigms, he plays soccer and also enjoys running.

As the Director of Technology at Appnovation, Jim brings over 15 years of experience working with java language, online content management and marketing systems. Jim has worked with some of the most highly recognizable Fortune 500 companies to design, build and manage their marketing and CRM solutions. His past clients include AOL Time/Warner, NBC Universal, Hewlett Packard, Visa and American Express.
Prior to Appnovation, Jim served as the Chief Architect at Yesmail where he was responsible for all software architecture and development. Jim also served as the General Manager at M4 Internet, a full service online marketing company. An alumnus of Simon Fraser University, Jim holds a BA in Communication and Philosophy.
Before Jo joined Appnovation in February 2016, most of her career had been spent in Education & Training with a focus on Pharmaceuticals. She is proud to say she was a stay at home mum until her children were in their teens, when she went back to school and gained a diploma and degree. Jo is looking forward to an exciting new challenge as a member of the Appnovation team and contributing to its global growth with her “can do, positive attitude.”

Our first AM in the Philly area! Ken has spent his entire career in the technology industry and, starting with data driven websites and Flash programming and training, his focus shifted to classroom training and ultimately to business development. Ken was the lead client executive for the Midwest IBM Business Analytics team and managed accounts for some of the world’s largest corporations including Abbott Pharmaceuticals, Kaiser Permanente, and Tenet Healthcare. More recently, Ken was the lead Account Executive for Analytics8 (a Business Intelligence consortium with a focus on Data Warehousing, Predictive Analytics and Data Visualization) and a role as a Senior Account Executive at Teradata.
Ken holds a Computer Information Science bachelor’s degree and a Masters of Information Science degree from Penn State University and was a member of a Championship winning crew team while at Temple University. He is a newlywed (married on May 1 to his wife Vanessa) and he is a father of 3 beautiful teen girls. Aside from (getting fewer and more far between) time with the girls; Ken and Vanessa enjoy being as active as possible as well as the finer things like restaurants and travel.

As a Drupal Developer at Appnovation, Kirk is passionate about create awesome websites. Kirk got his BSc (Computing Science) at Dalhousie University in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia. He would have continued on with a Masters degree, but ended up working and enjoying the challenges. While maintaining a website for a community theatre group, Kirk found Drupal and has loved it ever since. Kirk was also involved with Drupal Nova Scotia, both hosting and giving presentations.

Makan is a UX designer / UI developer, delivering apps with clean designs and intuitive features on a wide range of devices.
After finishing a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Leeds, Makan focussed on design and development for web and mobile apps, from the design stages with wireframes and concept images, to development with tools like HTML5, CSS3, Objective-C and Swift. He is an advocate of using user-focussed, minimalist design to ensure apps are easy-to-use and abstract technology from the user.
After contracting with Appnovation for 6 months, Makan joined Appnovation in 2016 as a permanent full-time employee, where he works with the front-end design/development team to develop designs and code with open source products for a variety of clients. In his spare time, he creates mobile apps and games for iPhone, iPod, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Mac OS X.

Marek joined Appnovation in early 2016 as a 1st Line Help Desk Technician. In the last 3 years Marek worked as a Level 2/ Level 3 Support Technician at a SaaS company that a delivered a web based solution for online marketing companies. Previously, Marek worked as a systems administrator for companies such as CGI, IBM and Bell. Marek was born in Poland and moved to Montreal at the age of 7. He finished a degree in Computer Science at Vanier College. When not working, Marek enjoys playing covers on guitar in local Montreal venues.

Living in Newport, South Wales, Michael has many years of experience working with clients to create, manage and support their websites, he has a strong background, engaging with many varied projects. From leading inside sales teams to running all aspects of a business, Minesh joins Appnovation with a wide range of sales, partner management and business development experience in the IT and software industries. Prior to joining Appnovation, Minesh was a major contributor to the success of LightSpeed's direct and indirect sales efforts and helped the company grow from 17 employees to over 220 in less than five years. While attending Concordia University in 2006, Minesh took a keen interest to Marketing and launched a successful Digital Signage business that he built and piloted from the ground up. His success resulted in over 70 video billboards installed in and around Montreal and an exclusive video ad network at Montreal's largest university that attracted a multitude of local and national brands/advertisers.

Myles joined Appnovation in 2013 as part of the design team. Myles has been an artist his entire life and whether it is painting, drawing, music, or design he finds himself in a constant need to create. Before joining Appnovation Myles was a design intern at Pound and Grain and a recent graduate of Capilano University’s Interactive Design program. Myles has spent his entire life on the move; from Florida to Singapore and lots in between, however for the last seven years he has called Vancouver home and does not see an end in sight.

As Appnovation’s Office Administrator, Nahaal assists and contributes to the daily operations within the head office in Vancouver. She studied at Capilano University and completed her Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in Human Resources. Coming from a banking work background, Nahaal was always the “go-to” person for online banking tips and tricks, which soon geared her attention more towards the tech world.

Nazli moved to Montreal, Canada to study Computer Science at Concordia University in 2009. During her school years, she was part of many team projects, joined many Hack-a-thons and meet ups. After obtaining her degree at Concordia, Nazli started learning new technologies on her own, including Drupal and PhoneGap.
Joining Appnovation helped Nazli see her potential as a developer. Oliver is a Drupal and PHP Developer who started working with Drupal in 2007 for a personal project, before switching careers and becoming a full-time Developer in 2010 doing full stack development and system administration. He has worked for several UK agencies, as a freelancer, and for in-house teams including the Drupal Association before arriving at Appnovation in mid-2016. A strong community and contribution advocate, Oliver has committed code to Drupal 7 and 8 core and multiple contrib projects, as well as to Drupal.org itself while also maintaining and contributing to various other open source projects.
Oliver organises the local Drupal and PHP user groups, and is the founding committee member of DrupalCamp Bristol. He regularly speaks at DrupalCamps, PHP conferences and user groups about Drupal, PHP, Git and other related topics. Always keen to learn, he has also started learning and developing personal projects with Symfony, Silex and Laravel, and is currently experimenting with Docker for local development environments.
Patricia joined Appnovation in 2014 as an Alfresco Developer. She has been working with Alfresco for the last four years and she likes to improve herself everyday with new challenges. Shan Shan has extensive experience working with international companies solve challenging goals. Previously, she was the Western Canadian Sales Manager for Sony and Microsoft's mobile division. She was one of the first to sell-in Android, tablets, and wearables to the Western Canadian market and helped peak Android sales in Western Canada for Sony, despite the giant publicity train of the iPhone 4 sales launch. Prior to travelling the world with Sony and Microsoft, she worked with the largest utility companies in British Columbia helping them achieve their aggressive customer service excellence goals. Before joining Appnovation, Shan Shan was the Account Director at a web development agency in BC, leading the development of innovative and successful websites built with both open source and proprietary technologies, particularly in ecommerce.
Shan Shan has lived in rural China, Albuquerque, New York, Vancouver and will soon reside in San Francisco. An Avid member of the startup community, she founded a startup that recently won the 2014 Global Startup Battle, the largest startup competition in the world. As the SVP of Global Operations, Sherborne’s key mandate is to make Appnovation a Global Growth Company. Sherborne has a lengthy track record of successful project delivery in both software development and operations.
His past experience includes managing large-scale web development projects for clients such as Best Buy and EA. Sherborne has helped shape and led organizations such as UBC, Blast Radius, Nokia, and EA. Prior to joining Appnovation, he led a high-performance operations and consulting team with DV8 Interactive in Vancouver.
Sherborne's career in the IT industry began 15 years ago as a Computer Analyst for Budget Rental Car on their Y2K project. His interest in IT combined with a Bachelor of Technology degree from BCIT, has led Sherborne into the realm of project management and technology leadership.

His previous role as a contractor at Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) allowed him to focus on Back-end Drupal development, leveraging many APIs and the Apache Solr enterprise search platform.
Stephen has a bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Carleton University and a diploma from Algonquin College in Interactive Multimedia and Design. He is ITIL certified and continues to improve his skills with yearly training in different technologies and frameworks.

Tai graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BCom in Finance and Management Information Systems. In addition, he is currently enrolled in UBC's Diploma in Accounting Program. Tai has 3 years of experience in the accounting field, having spent time at a public accounting firm as well as Hootsuite. Thor co-founded "mr natural", a Vancouver-based environmental services and technology company which can be found on the web at mrnatural.ca and is half way through the Strategic Leadership program at UBC Sauder. Thor was born in Vancouver; the name reflects hippie parentage, not Scandinavian. He used to race longboards but now rides only occasionally, and is literally addicted to dancing.

Based out of the Wales office, Tim joined Appnovation in late 2014 after nearly 4 years working with our Drupal partner, Acquia. He has been living in Wales for over 10 years with his wife and two sons. Tim's experience with Drupal comes from over 8 years of working with the platform developing and consulting on some of the biggest Drupal sites in the world. He also takes an active role in the Drupal community, maintaining both core and contributed modules. Tim has attended several Drupalcons and he was even Co-Lead for Drupalcon 2011 based in London.

Prior to joining Appnovation, Tim worked in marketing management positions with software and professional services firms. He has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Georgia and an MBA with a specialization in marketing from the University of Florida.
After two decades as a copywriter and content editor, Tim brings a valuable blend of experience and success to the table. His passion for content production is both a vocation as well as a pastime, ensuring that he is never without a pen to hand and rarely far from a keyboard.
Having worked as an editor and writer in the corporate, media, technology and academic industries, his experience is as varied as it is valuable. Prior to taking up his role at Appnovation, he worked for several years as a freelance writer and editor. Tom is a SproutCore Architect with over 15 years experience in software development including web and mobile applications, e-commerce, media delivery platforms, health devices and scalable systems. Tom has a keen eye for trends in web and mobile technologies. He has helped develop a platform agnostic e-reader for Kobo Inc., featured in the Chrome Web Store, and the first e-reader to be released on the Windows 8 beta.
Tom’s experience includes serving as the CTO of VideoClix Technologies where he is responsible for product development, partner integrations, and system architecture. His clients include ABC Networks, Disney, MTVN, ESPN, and Discovery Networks. He is an active community member, mentoring developers and speaking at various Adobe and HTML5 events.
Travis has known he wanted to be involved in the tech industry since his parents bought him his first computer. Vanessa joined the Appnovation team in the Saint John office as a Communications Coordinator in July 2014. She has an extensive background in marketing communications and public relations, holding previous positions in government and not for profit sectors. Her love of communicating and problem solving drew her to marketing.
Vanessa studied at the Nova Scotia Community College, where she received an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations. Vanessa is also a graduate of the University of New Brunswick, Saint John, where she completed her BA. Vanessa is the proud recipient of the Advanced Placement Scholar Award from the College Entrance Examination Board.

Wendy has been in the technology industry for over 14 years and has experience as a former Java and web developer, a 3D Animator, Project Manager and now New Business Operations Manager. Youfei started at Appnovation on a co-op term and joined us full time upon graduating Simon Fraser University with a computer science degree. While studying in university, Youfei discovered the power of open technologies and has never looked back! Over the years, Youfei has honed his technical skills by working freelance and developing many websites for a wide variety of organizations.
When Youfei is not at work, he likes to spend his time playing basketball or going snowboarding. He is also very enthusiastic about games and has approximately 100+ games on the wishlist. One day, he hopes to develop some indie games himself.
