For Drupal developers, the way to create blocks is by implementing hook_block. But sometimes, clients want to be able to modify the block content. In the old days, I would have had to create a script that would create blocks. Imagine a web site that has a lot of blocks. It will become a hassle creating/editing blocks. Even though writing the script is simple, it still takes time to write and test your code. I would rather spend that time elsewhere. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about tedious tasks such as writing scripts in order to generate editable blocks. Thanks to Features Extra, my life has gotten a little bit easier. Features Extra enables me to create blocks using the UI and export it using Features. It has options to let you export block settings and/or block content. Block settings/contents are not the only things that Features extra supports, it also allows you to export Vocabularies and Nodequeue. For more information about Features extra, click here.
