I attended Drupal Con Portland last week. It has been quite a while since my last Drupal Con which was held in Boston. Back then Drupal Con only had about 500-1000 people and the venue only had 4-5 rooms. These days Drupal Con has grown much bigger with thousands of attendees. It is quite amazing to see how far Drupal Con has grown in the past years. While there, I managed to meet up with a lot of Acquia team members. Back at the Boston Drupal Con, there were only perhaps 30-40 Acquia team members total. It's great to see how Acquia has grown dramatically in the past years as there were over a hundred Acquia team members at this year's conference.
I arrived in Portland on Monday for the Acquia Partner day. It was great to hear from Joe Wykes, Acquia's VP of Global Channels, and Tom Erickson, Acquia's CEO, about the latest happenings at Acquia. We were also thrilled to receive the Acquia Partner Site of the Year for Mobile for our work with Elle Decor. The partner day event was followed by an engaging cocktail reception where we got to meet other partners and the full Acquia team.
Tuesday and Wednesday were filled with client and partner meetings. A lot of our clients were at Drupal Con and it provided a good occasion for us to learn more about their needs and see how we can help them more. I am pleased to say that we won a second award on Wednesday receiving Best E-Commerce/Marketplace Website at the Blue Drop Awards for our Kixify project.
All in all, I wished I had more time to go to the sessions, but it was definitely a rewarding opportunity to attend Drupal Con.
