Custom Drupal Portal

Custom Drupal Portal

The University of California HR department was looking to consolidate all University of California campuses to use one HR portal site. In addition to this, they wanted the new HR portal site to have a more modern, easier user interface for users.

The underlying HR system is powered by PeopleSoft, but Appnovation were afforded the option of using Drupal 8, which was considered the best option. This was chosen as it could be leveraged for its CMS and front-end visual layer presentation capabilities. Sitting between Drupal and PeopleSoft was a middleware layer from InFlight, which interfaces with PeopleSoft and passes information through injected Javascript to the Drupal side.

In the state of California, it is mandated by law that websites need to meet WCAG 2.0 AA standards.

As Appnovation was responsible for both the design and implementation, the designs had web accessibility and screen-reader considerations incorporated up front. During the design stage, University of California stakeholders were already performing contrast testing on the design mock-ups to ensure the development and implementation would comply with WCAG 2.0 guidelines as proactively and smoothly as possible.
