Warren H. Wong Joins Board of Directors at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden
VANCOUVER, BC (May 2, 2017) – Global digital solutions and managed services provider Appnovation, today announced that Senior Vice President of Talent & Culture, Warren H. Wong, has been appointed to the Board of Directors at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.
Located near Appnovation’s head office in Vancouver, B.C., the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is the first classical Chinese garden built outside China. Designed to educate visitors on the relativity of Chinese culture in Canada, the garden seeks to “maintain and enhance the bridge of understanding between the Chinese and Western cultures, to promote Chinese culture generally, and to be an integral part of the local community.”
“The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden Society is very fortunate to welcome Warren Wong to the team. He brings a strong interest in community engagement and will contribute a wealth of expertise, talent and passion to the Society,” said Ted Lee, acting president of Board of Trustees, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden Society of Vancouver. “He is an involved and energetic member of the non-profit community and his breadth of experience will provide tremendous support to the Board in achieving its strategic goals.”
As well as being appointed to the Sun Yat-Sen Board, Wong is actively involved in the Vancouver community through his 2012 appointment to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, Board of Directors. His commitment to local community causes is a symbol of the legacy Appnovation wishes to inspire in its global workforce.
“I’m very fortunate that my position affords me the great opportunity to be the executive champion, but also a role model for our company’s corporate citizenship program,” said Wong. “As a Vancouver born and raised Chinese Canadian, I’m honoured and delighted to be able to make a positive difference and impact in the diverse community that we live, work and play in as a board member on both the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden Society.”
Appnovation continues to support local initiatives, including supporting the Technovation Challenge again this year, with six team members volunteering their time to act as mentors to 12 young ladies in West Vancouver while they’re challenged to develop a mobile phone app, build a company to launch the app, and pitch their plan to experts.
Bolstered through its Corporate Citizenship program, Appnovation seeks to support causes that matter to employees through volunteering, fundraising, and donating talent to inspirational tech-for-good projects. These are just a few ways in which Appnovation lives and breathes its essential core values and continues to use technology to educate, empower, and engage developing communities to create sustainable economic and social change.
