Appnovator Spotlight: Mahmoud Alaaeldin

Meet Mahmoud Alaaeldin, our Hong Kong-based Digital Team Lead

We sat down (virtually) with Mahmoud and found out more about his work, life, and love for sports!

What do you love most about what you do?

Having the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the industry and being able to inspire impactful positive change through modern technology and customer-centric solutions.

What are you most proud of in your career?

I am proud to be leading a team of experts with diversified skill sets and knowledge, and transforming companies and processes from legacy and traditional methods into modern and agile organizations.

What would you like to achieve in your career?

In the short term, I would like to grow the Atlassian tech team throughout APAC and create a name for Appnovation as the main Atlassian partner in the region. In the long term, I would like to explore other tech stacks and partnerships and move towards more strategy and leadership positions where I can apply more of my business and management skills.

Where have you worked before, and what valuable learnings did you acquire?

Before joining Appnovation, I worked as a Consultant at an Atlassian partner in Singapore where I was first exposed to some of the largest companies in the insurance, finance, airlines, and government domains. There I learnt client management skills, solution design, and being independent. Before that, I worked as an Application Support Engineer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There I learnt the basics of service delivery management and support. I was able to sharpen my technical skills and improve my customer relationship skills.

What does being an Appnovator mean to you?

Being an Appnovator means delivering high-quality services and forming genuine relationships with clients, through constant innovations and improvements.

What advice would you give to someone new to Appnovation or interested in working at Appnovation?

Take initiative, be proactive, look into why things are done the way they are, and take everything as a learning experience.

What do you do outside of work?

Most of the time, you'll find me at the gym, basketball court, or football field. I also like to hang out with friends, go on occasional hikes, discover new places, or just lay by the beach. Indoors, I'm an avid reader. I enjoy all sorts of books from fiction to non-fiction, biographies, and online content.

The bravest thing I've done is:

Move to Asia alone at the age of 16.

An awesome fact about me that few people know is:

Growing up, I took sports very seriously, with basketball and boxing being my two main passions. I have several medals in basketball, leading my team back in our sports club in Egypt, as well as my university team. I also won a gold medal in a Boxing Heavyweight Championship back in Alexandria, Egypt.

What does “being successful” mean to you?

Doing the things that make you happy and opening yourself to new challenges that enable you to grow and develop mentally, spiritually and professionally.

What are you looking forward to learning and/or doing next in your career?

Growing as a team lead and playing a more strategic role in client partnerships and projects
