Andrew Douglas, a man, stands in front of a brick wall. The text reads Spotlight: Andrew Douglas, Group Design Director.

Say Hello to Andrew Douglas, Group Design Director, Our Soccer-loving, Coffee-drinking Dad.

Tell us about your role at Appnovation?

At a high level, as the Group Design Director, I work closely with leadership to win and retain new business for Appnovation in the AMER region. Between those exercises, I work closely with Erico Nascimento, Design Director to establish rituals and standards within the greater design practice.

What’s your #1 vision for your team?

Human-centered design has to go beyond the creation of intuitive products and services. We need to enable collaborative, iterative skill sets that businesses (our clients) need to build experiences for their customers.

What do you love most about what you do?

The aforementioned client enablement and collaboration that happens internally or externally when refining or launching a new product. Aiding our clients in business innovation through design is also important and rewarding for both sides.

In 3 words, how would your family and friends describe you?

Kind, caring and giving. I’d hope!

In your time off, what’s your favourite hobby?

My kids and I are big into cycling and hitting up the bike park near us.

What do you do to relax?

I’m a huge fan of soccer and love watching Newcastle United.

What is your favourite meal?

Is there anything better than a perfectly cooked steak?

What is the bravest thing you've done?

If you could describe yourself as an animal, what would it be?

Golden Retriever, enjoys life and people.

What’s the last song you listened to?

Dreamer by The Blaze.

Coffee or Tea?

Coffee, sometimes twice a day.

Give us your best podcast/book recommendation, please

I’m into light-hearted comedy podcasts, so “Are You Garbage?” never disappoints.
