The importance of corporate citizenship has long been emphasized at Appnovation since our global partnership with WE Charity in 2015. This past year has been filled with many exciting community initiatives both at the local and global scale.

Locally

Locally, offices have taken the time to get involved with charities and organizations impactful to them.

Our Montreal office continued its partnership with Dans La Rue, a charity geared towards supporting homeless youth, by hosting four youth at the office for a day of job shadowing. In Vancouver, various Appnovators participated in initiatives related to shoreline cleanups, Vancouver pride parade and WE Day involvement.

This past December, Appnovation ran its annual AppnoHoliday campaign in support of local charity groups. The Cardiff and Reading offices collectively fundraised £185.06 in addition to a company contribution of £250 towards the Trussell Trust food bank organization. Appnovators in Saint John joined forces with their office neighbours Cardinal Path to once again sponsor a local family for Christmas. The families were selected through school coordinators who identified those who were most in need. This year, they delivered gifts, necessities (socks, underwear, toothpaste, etc), and a full Christmas dinner to a single dad with three daughters. Vancouver ended the year with two events for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. The first event was a wine/alcohol auction fundraiser and the second was a company fundraiser potluck. The events collectively raised a total of $486 CAD.

Globally

On a global scale, Appnovation once again worked to support our continued campaign with WE Charity for clean water in the community of Kanambu, Ecuador. WE Charity, and more specifically WE Villages, focuses on providing sustainable solutions for developing communities. The Clean Water Campaign aims to provide a clean water and sanitation program for the community of Kanambu, Ecuador. Currently, phase one of the initiative is underway with a clean water system being built through the campus of the elementary school. In addition to the water system construction, community members participated in classes for proper water handling management.

Appnovation has now completed three annual campaigns for WE and has fundraised a total of $13,155 CAD towards this project. This year’s campaign was a global Trivia fundraising challenged that urged contestants to login to live online trivia each week and answer a series of charity and Appnovation related trivia questions to rise in the leaderboard. In addition, contestants fundraised to boost trivia scores and support the campaign. The event was a huge success raising $2,500 CAD in funds for the project.

For the New Year, we're busy planning our 2019 annual campaigns, kicking things off with the Vancouver Sun Run in April!
